Even when I was a fundamentalist, I never was a big fan of Pat Robertson, host of the popular 700 Club television show and founder of the Christian Broadcast Network.
Now, I am sickened by him.
Pat Robertson has said many stupid things in his life.
There was the time he called for the assassination of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavaz.
There was the time he labeled feminism “a socialist, anti-family political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism and become lesbians.”
And, of course, let’s not forget the fact that he linked terrorist attacks on the USA to God lifting his umbrella of protection from the U.S. due to the sinful behaviour of its people.
Well, Pat’s comments yesterday and today about the heart breaking disaster in Haiti leave me dumfounded, angry, and disgusted all at the same time.
Here’s Robertson’s bizarre and sickening assessment of how this disaster could be a “blessing in disguise” and that the Haitian people brought this on themselves by making a pact with the devil to help them overthrow their French oppressors at the turn of the 19th century:
Today, the Haitian ambassador to the USA responded on the Rachel Maddow show:
Keith Oberman’s critique of Pat Robertson’s idiotic comments echoes my sentiments exactly.
Pat, you disgust me.
